Ravens HC John Harbaugh admits RB Gus Edwards should have played more vs. Steelers

In the Baltimore Ravens’ 16-13 Week 17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, one player was significantly missing from the offensive game plan. Running back Gus Edwards lacked the same amount of playing time that fellow running back J.K. Dobbins had, as from the snap count list, Edwards only had nine plays on offense while Dobbins had 26, marking a big discrepancy.

Baltimore Head coach John Harbaugh was asked about the playing time of Edwards in Week 17, and seemed disappointed that the running back didn’t play more. His answer seemed to raise eyebrows, especially considering that he’s the head coach of the team

“I wasn’t happy about that, in all honesty. Gus [Edwards] should have played more – there’s no doubt about it. That was something that … We should have had him out there more, and [there’s] really no excuse for that.”

When Edwards and Dobbins have both been active this season, they’ve split carrying duties somewhat evenly for the most part. Some thought he might’ve been hurt, but Harbaugh didn’t reveal any new injuries after the game.
