Lamar Jackson, who has contracted COVID-19 twice, says he is keeping vaccination status private

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson avoided questions about his vaccination status during a meeting with the media on Thursday.

Jackson has tested positive for COVID twice, once in Nov. 2020 and once in July 2021. He would not reveal whether he would get vaccinated ahead of the upcoming football season.

“I want to keep that between me and my family and the doctors. That’s all,” Jackson told reporters, via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

Players who are not fully vaccinated are subject to much sterner protocols, including a mask mandate in the facility and daily tests. If the players fail to follow those protocols, they are subject to fines or a five-day absence from work. Unvaccinated players must also spend time away from the facility if they are in close contact with a COVID-positive person.

Jackson finished the 2020 season with 2,757 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also completed 64.4% of his passes. He added 159 rushes for 1,005 yards and seven touchdowns. He played in 15 games, missing one after his positive COVID-19 test.

He and the Ravens kick off against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night.
