Injuries of all kinds have plagued the Baltimore Ravens during the 2021 season so far. Since before the year began, the team has been relying on a lot of new faces on the 53-man roster to contribute in a big way. On Friday, Baltimore had 13 players on their final injury report ahead of their Week 4 game. Despite the plethora of injuries, the Ravens’ have done good with the talent they’ve added as substitutes. Not all players, however, are easy to replace.

On Saturday, the Ravens announced that defensive end Derek Wolfe would be placed on injured reserve ahead of the team’s matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Wolfe has yet to see a snap this season after dealing with back and hip issues. The nine-year veteran would have loved to return to the Mile High City and play against his former team with whom he hoisted a Lombardi Trophy with in 2016.

Wolfe was a key member of the Baltimore defensive front last season. In 2020, Wolfe played in 14 games, had a combined 51 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.

In being placed on injured reserve, Wolfe will be required to miss a minimum of three games and be eligible to return for the Ravens’ Week 7 matchup against their division rival in the Cincinnati Bengals.

Baltimore also activated running back Le’Veon Bell, offensive tackle Andre Smith and defensive back Kevin Seymour to the active roster.
