In Week 7, Baltimore improved to 5-2 on the season with an emphatic 38-6 victory over Detroit. The Ravens utterly dominated the NFC contender, piling up over 500 yards on offense with an astonishing 9.1-yard average gain per play. Baltimore went into halftime with a 355 to 97 advantage in yardage and the defense capitalized of the positive game script with five sacks and an interception.

It was an exquisite performance in every facet. Against the Lions, the Ravens displayed the tremendously high ceiling their 2023 club can reach when firing on all cylinders.

Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson: 57 Offensive Snaps (95%)

Tyler Huntley: 3 (5%)

Josh Johnson: Inactive

Lamar executed coordinator Todd Monken’s offense masterfully, making wise decisions on run-pass option plays, buying time in the pocket when necessary and delivering passes accurately. Jackson finished with 357 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, eight explosive pass plays, three rushing first downs and a rushing touchdown. It was truly an MVP caliber showing.

Running Backs

Justice Hill: 30 (50%)

Gus Edwards: 30 (50%)

Keaton Mitchell: 2 (3%) — 10 Special Teams Snaps (48%)

Hill averaged 11.5 yards on four carries but contributed to a lost fumble, the Ravens only turnover of the game, by mishandling the mesh point on a read-option play. Gus rumbled for 64 yards and a score on 14 carries and added an 80-yard catch-and-run, the longest of his career. Undrafted rookie Mitchell gained 9-yards on his first professional touch.

Tight Ends

Mark Andrews: 44 (73%)

Patrick Ricard: 24 (40%) — 2 (10%)

Isaiah Likely: 21 (35%) — 10 (48%)

Charlie Kolar: 11 (18%) — 13 (62%)

Andrews scored a pair of touchdowns and gained 63 yards on six targets. Ricard was an asset to Baltimore’s pass protection and contributed a 28-yard reception. Likely and Kolar continue to be used primarily as blockers, neither saw a target in Week 7.

Wide Recievers

Zay Flowers: 43 (72%)

Odell Beckham Jr.: 34 (57%)

Rashod Bateman: 29 (48%)

Nelson Agholor: 22 (37%)

Devin Duvernay: 9 (15%) — 7 (33%)

It was a supremely efficient afternoon for the Ravens wideouts. Beckham led the team in targets with seven and caught five for 49 yards. Flowers led the team in yards with 75 including a 46-yard reception. Bateman was involved, catching two passes for 36 yards and Agholor caught his only target for a 12-yard touchdown.

Offensive Line

John Simpson: 60 (100%) — 6 (29%)

Ronnie Stanley: 60 (100%)

Kevin Zeitler: 57 (95%) — 6 (29%)

Morgan Moses: 57 (95%)

Tyler Linderbaum: 57 (95%)

Ben Cleveland: 4 (7%) — 6 (29%)

Daniel Faalele: 3 (5%) — 6 (29%)

Patrick Mekari: 3 (5%) — 6 (29%)

Sam Mustipher: Inactive

Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu: Inactive

Baltimore’s blocking unit paved the way for 146 rushing yards without allowing a sack. Jackson was knocked down only once by the Lions. Stanley appears to be rounding into form after struggling with injuries during the last few seasons.

Defensive Line

Justin Madubuike: 40 Defensive Snaps (53%) — 2 (10%)

Travis Jones: 35 (47%) — 8 (38%)

Michael Pierce: 34 (45%)

Broderick Washington: 33 (44%) — 2 (10%)

Brent Urban: 12 (16%)

Madubuike continued his ascent to stardom with a sack, forced fumble, three solo tackles and two quarterback hits against one of the NFL’s best offensive lines. Jones and Washington also posted quarterback hits while Pierce made an impact with two solo tackles.

Inside Linebackers

Patrick Queen: 67 (89%)

Roquan Smith: 67 (89%)

Del’Shawn Phillips: 8 (11%) — 15 (71%)

Trenton Simpson: 8 (11%) — 13 (62%)

Patrick matched Roquan’s five solo tackles and Smith added a pass breakup to the stat sheet. The impressive inside linebacker duo is making offenses earn every yard this season.

Outside Linebackers

Jadeveon Clowney: 44 (59%)

Odafe Oweh: 40 (53%)

Kyle Van Noy: 33 (44%)

Tavius Robinson: 18 (24%) — 10 (48%)

Malik Harrison: 15 (20%) — 15 (71%)

Jeremiah Moon: Inactive

Returning from a month long injury absence, Oweh assumed a large snap share and delivered a strip-sack on Jared Goff. And Van Noy made the most of his opportunity with two sacks.

Cornerbacks

Brandon Stephens: 67 (89%) — 7 (33%)

Marlon Humphrey: 67 (89%)

Arthur Maulet: 60 (80%) — 6 (29%)

Jalyn Armour-Davis: 11 (15%) — 15 (71%)

Rock Ya-Sin: 8 (11%) — 11 (52%)

Ronald Darby: 8 (11%) — 5 (24%)

Kevon Seymour: Inactive

A position that was considered a potential weakness has become a pronounced strength. With two more pass breakups in Week 7, Stephens is developing into a lockdown corner. Humphrey also broke up a pass and appears healthy after preseason foot surgery. Ya-Sin was also credited with a pass defensed. And Maulet has been a revelation at slot cornerback, trying for the team lead with six solo tackles including a nine-yard sack.

Safeties

Geno Stone: 75 (100%) — 6 (29%)

Kyle Hamilton: 67 (89%)

DeAndre Houston-Carson: 8 (11%) — 15 (71%)

Marcus Williams: Inactive

Filling in for the injured Williams, Stone made another interception, his fourth of the season. Hamilton recorded six solo tackles including one for loss. Elevated from the practice squad, Houston-Carson made his Ravens debut.

Specialists

Justin Tucker: 13 (62%)

Jordan Stout: 8 (38%)

Tyler Ott: 8 (38%)

Baltimore did not require heroics from their specialists in this blowout. Nevertheless, Stout averaged 56 yards on two punts and Tucker knocked through a 32-yard field goal.
