The Broncos have reportedly fielded calls for veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton but do not plan to trade him.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Denver Broncos have received multiple trade inquiries for veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton. However, he is reporting that the Broncos do not plan to trade Sutton who has expressed frustration with his contract.

It was reported last week that Courtland Sutton is seeking a new contract and will be skipping the voluntary workouts that began last week. Sutton only has $2 million dollars in guaranteed money left on his contract and is looking for a new deal from the team this offseason.

Sutton will turn 29 years old during the season this year but is coming off a season where he caught a career-high 10 touchdown passes. Most of these touchdown receptions were highlight-reel catches and some were the deciding factor in the game. So, he was a key part of the Broncos offense. With that said, prior to this season, Sutton was coming off back-to-back seasons where he only had two touchdown receptions and has only topped 1,000 yards once in his career, and that was back in 2019. So, Sutton, who the Broncos have already given a contract extension too, could have a hard time negotiating a new deal from the Broncos.

This has led to teams giving the Broncos a call about the potential availability of Courtland Sutton. It was reported last season that the team nearly dealt him to the Baltimore Ravens before pulling back at the last minute and deciding to keep their former second-round selection. So, it is possible that they could revisit these talks with the Ravens and potentially other receiver-needy teams before or during the draft. However, Fowler is reporting that the Broncos do not plan to trade Sutton.

We all know that could change if a team meets the Broncos’ asking price.

This is a deep receiver class where we should have plenty of receivers drafted in the first two days of the draft. If a team misses out on their guy, they could the Broncos a call and potentially swing a deal for the veteran receiver. I do not think Sutton would net more than a fourth or fifth-round selection, but the Broncos could be pushing for a third-round pick in return for Sutton. That is all speculation on my part of course and the team truly could want to keep him around for whichever quarterback they end up drafting.

So we shall see how this plays out in the coming days. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sutton is dealt and they are simply holding out for a better offer, but we shall see.
