According to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs, the Chicago Bears are expected to sign former Clemson offensive lineman Gage Cervenka. He was in for a visit earlier this week, and he was on Chicago’s offseason roster for a bit earlier this spring.

The former Clemson Tiger went undrafted after his 2019 season, but he wasn’t picked up by an NFL team in 2020; possibly due to the pandemic limiting team’s scouting process. He attended Clemson’s 2021 pro day to try to kick start some interest, and the Bears signed him back in May.

He’s one of the strongest players to ever come though Clemson with 50 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press on his resume, and at a powerful 6’3”, 321 pounds he has some physical traits to work with.

While his is a fun underdog story to follow, it’s likely he’s just coming in as a camp body while the Bears wait for some of their injured o-linemen to heal up. He’s familiar with the offense and can line up on Chicago’s interior while the Bears give usual guards Alex Bars and Arlington Hambright some tackle reps.
