Kansas City is sending a sixth-round pick to the Steelers to bring him to town.

According to multiple sources, the Kansas City Chiefs are acquiring edge rusher Melvin Ingram from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Reports indicate the Chiefs are giving up a sixth-round draft pick to get the 32-year-old Ingram, who spent nine seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers before signing with the Steelers for 2021.

In March, Ingram met with the Chiefs, but the free agent left town without making a deal. We were never able to learn why the two sides didn’t come to an agreement at that time.

Ultimately, Ingram signed in Pittsburgh, where he played in six games (starting one) and collected 10 tackles (five solo), a sack, six quarterback hits, a fumble recovery and a pass defensed. After seeing his snaps steadily decrease after Week 3, he asked for a trade — and now, the Steelers have obliged.

Ingram will reportedly cost the Chiefs under $600,000 for the rest of 2021; the Steelers will have to eat the rest of the $4 million deal he signed.
