An update on the team’s tight ends.

Friday was a bit of a costly night for the Dallas Cowboys. They technically lost the preseason game that they played in against the Arizona Cardinals which is not the biggest deal, but they are also dealing with a few injuries that could potentially be a bit more complicating.

We found out on Saturday that Neville Gallimore is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a dislocated elbow which is definitely not great news. The same timeframe is what is being reported for tight end Sean McKeon who is now being diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain after the Arizona game.

McKeon had really established himself as the TE3 on the team’s roster and was having a great camp before this. His roster spot shouldn’t be in jeopardy yet, but seeing him have to miss any kind of time is not ideal.

On the other side of that spectrum, news also came out about Dalton Schlutz on Saturday and that is definitely more optimistic.

You will recall that Schultz appeared to injure his ankle during Wednesday’s practice. The Dallas Morning News reports that this was why he did not play on Friday night in Arizona, but that he is anticipated to be fine for Week 1 on September 9th.

The Cowboys began camp with Blake Jarwin not on the PUP list, but with a bit of a pitch count going on as far as his reps were concerned. We should see Jeremy Sprinkle get more work now with opportunities seemingly more available. Perhaps he will start to separate himself, too.
