Either by force or by their own will, seven Carolina Panthers coaches moved on from the team this offseason. One of those men was former special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn, who has now reportedly found himself a new gig.

According to Joe Rexrode of The Athletic, the Tennessee Titans are set to hire Blackburn as their assistant special teams coach. The former Panther will be replacing Matt Edwards, who was dismissed back on Jan. 25.

Blackburn was handed his walking papers two weeks prior to Edwards, on Jan. 11. He, along with offensive line coach Pat Meyer and defensive line coach Frank Okam, were the first three coaches to branch away from the Panthers following a disappointing 2021 campaign.

The 38-year-old spent six seasons on Carolina’s staff, having been named the lead on special teams beginning in 2018. Blackburn, who also played linebacker for the Panthers from 2013 to 2014, would then be retained from the Ron Rivera era into the Matt Rhule regime in 2020.

Rhule has since hired Chris Tabor as his new special teams coordinator.
