A second visit sounds serious in the Cowboys courtship of Malik Hooker.

The Dallas Cowboys have already begun training camp and have their first practice in the books. That doesn’t mean that they are just sitting around content with the way things are, though. Stephen Jones often talks about how roster construction is a 24/7/365 business in the National Football League which means that the Cowboys are seemingly working around the clock. Earlier this week they moved on from veteran cornerback Rashard Robinson which gave them an open roster spot and it appears that they might know who is going to fill it.

Dallas brought in a few safeties this offseason to give themselves some options at the position and it appears as if they might want to add one more to that tally. Free agent safety Malik Hooker is reportedly set to visit the team for a second time.

It was all the way back in March that Hooker first visited the Cowboys, but ultimately nothing came of it. As noted, Dallas signed players like Damontae Kazee and Jayrone Kearse, but it seemed like this door was always open.

Having options at safety is certainly not a bad thing for a team that has struggled there for some time. This is just a visit, but if it is happening for the second time it would stand to reason that there is some mutual interest going on.

Update: 4:47pm ET

The Dallas Morning News reported in the immediate aftermath of this news breaking that assuming everything works out from a physical standpoint that the Cowboys are indeed expected to sign Malik Hooker.

Another safety on the board.
