Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn may be damaged goods, at least temporarily. But that might not stop some teams from calling about him.

ESPN senior NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported on Friday morning that Chinn, who is currently dealing with a quad injury, may still be a target at the trade deadline. Fowler notes:

Chinn suffered a quad injury that could complicate his trade market should the Panthers choose to try and move him, but it doesn’t preclude a deal from getting done. He’ll be back before the end of the season off an injury that ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports will take up to six weeks to heal. The injury is non-surgical, and Chinn is considered a fast healer.

There’s interest in Chinn, who is in a contract year and only played 28 snaps the past two weeks. He wants to play.

The fourth-year defender has thus far played the lowest rate of snaps in his NFL career. Chinn has seen the field for 52 percent of the defense’s looks through six weeks—a notable decline from his 97 percent in 2020, 99 percent in 2021 and 91 percent in 2022.

As mentioned by Fowler, Chinn could miss a month and a half due to his setback—which would, presumably, lessen any type of return for Carolina. Nonetheless, if interest persists, a deal could make sense for both Chinn and the 0-6 Panthers.
