Most of the injury focus from yesterday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers was on Mekhi Becton who was carted off the field. While we await definitive word, some of Becton’s preliminary tests were reportedly encouraging.

Lamarcus Joyner left the game in the first half. His absence was felt as his replacement Sheldrick Redwine was the primary culprit in Sam Darnold’s touchdown pass to Robby Anderson. The news for Joyner is not good. It appears the elbow injury he suffered might be a season ender per Ian Rapoport.

Joyner would be the second Jets offseason free agent signing to suffer a season ending injury joining Carl Lawson. The coaching staff reportedly had big hopes for Joyner. His Jets career now may be very short lived. He only signed a one year contract to join the team, meaning he will be a free agent once again this offseason.

The loss of Joyner would potentially provide a big opportunity for Ashtyn Davis when he comes off IR. The 2020 third round pick was relegated to backup status after the signing of Joyner, but he will presumably step back into the starting role upon his return.
