It’s been more than a year since the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets agreed to a trade that would send blitz boy strong safety Jamal Adams to the Hawks in exchange for two first round picks, and now reports have Adams set to stay in Seattle well past the 2021 season.

Based on the $38M guarantee number that Ian Rapoport is reporting, it appears as though Adams and his agent came to their senses on the reported final offer the team had made. Perhaps the threats through the media Monday that the Seahawks were prepared to take things a year at a time through the use of franchise tags played a role, or perhaps Adams came to understand the contract Seattle offered was likely in line with what he could earn in free agency next spring.

In any case, the drama behind the contract is now finished, so the Seahawks can now turn their attention to figuring out how to address the situation with Duane Brown.
