Saints at Patriots Wednesday injury report: health trending upwards

Erik McCoy is still working his way back, the Saints could be getting several key pieces back in Boston.

The New Orleans Saints will look to bounce back after a disappointing performance in last weekend’s loss. To do so, they’ll battle with the New England Patriots in Foxboro. The Saints nor the Patriots are the same teams since they last met. No Tom Brady, no Drew Brees, but still two of the NFL’s best coaches ready to go head-to-head post Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

For the Saints, health was a huge concern last week. Now, things look to be trending upward early in the week.

DE Tanoh Kpassagnon

Marshon Lattimore, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Peter Werner, and Tanoh Kpassagnon all missed last week’s game but look to be on the mend heading into Week 3.

Right guard Calvin Throckmorton has stepped up into the starting offensive line as Cesar Ruiz shifted over to center. Similarly, Payton Turner impressed getting his first snaps against the Carolina Panthers while Marcus Davenport and Kpassagnon were out. Seeing both of them on the injury report to open the week is a surprise, and an unwelcome one.

The Patriots have their own unwelcome news with edge defender Matthew Judon missing practice with a knee injury. He’s been valuable to New England not just for his contributions as a pass rusher, but in the run game as well. New England surrendered 4.9 yards per carry in Week 2 against the New York Jets. If they’re without Judon against New Orleans, it opens the door for a big game on the ground for Alvin Kamara and Tony Jones Jr.
