New Orleans has picked at 14 just three previous times.
The New Orleans Saints will end the regular season with the 14th overall draft pick in the 2024 draft. New Orleans has only picked 14th overall three times in their history.

In 1990, the Saints drafted defensive end Renaldo Turnbull out of West Virginia. The Saints wouldn’t pick at #14 until 19 years later when they selected Saints legend Malcolm Jenkins out of Ohio State. The Saints’ most recent selection at 14th overall was defensive end Marcus Davenport, who the Saints traded up to get.
In the 2023 Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected tackle Broderick Jones out of Georgia with the 14th overall selection.
The Saints will have many options with the 14th overall pick. They could trade back and collect more picks as they have multiple holes that they will be looking to fill. If the Saints were to look for quarterback Derek Carr’s successor, they would likely have to trade up. The 14th overall pick gives them the flexibility to do that without trading away too much draft capital.
The Saints are one of the oldest teams in the league and need to continue to get younger, so having the option to trade down, acquire more draft picks and continue getting younger is ideal. But if they were to find a player they like a lot and think he could change the team’s direction around, they could look to trade up and take him.
