Although Tevi was unlikely to the make the Colts’ roster, it’s still a tough blow for the veteran OT.

After quite frankly an awful stretch throughout preseason and training camp, Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle Sam Tevi wasn’t expected to make the 53-man roster. Tevi’s fate was officially sealed today after what looked to be a serious injury suffered in the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions was confirmed to be a season-ending torn ACL, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Tevi was brutal during training camp practice at Grand Park, continuously being beaten like a drum by the Colts’ pass rushers. This forced Indianapolis to move Tevi to right tackle, and the results weren’t any different. Against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit, Tevi was getting pummeled by practice squad pass rushers.

Unlikely to even make the final roster, Tevi was on the outside looking in for a roster spot. After sustaining a torn ACL, the expectation should be that Tevi reaches an injury settlement with the team.

Tevi provided depth at offensive tackle, but he’s quickly usurped by Julien Davenport and Will Holden over the last month.
