Saturday the Seattle Seahawks took a thrashing at the hand of the Denver Broncos in Week 2 of the 2021 NFL preseason, with backup quarterback Alex McGough displaying a lack of ball security in turning it over three times. How much of a role that lack of ball security played in the decision the Seahawks made on Monday in order to come into compliance with the requirement to trim the roster to 80 may never be known, but what is known is that he won’t be playing in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In addition to waiving McGough, the Hawks also waived defensive tackle Cedrick Lattimore, who saw limited snaps in the two preseason games, and who could be expendable on the defensive line if the team does indeed add Geno Atkins. These moves come after the team had already waived Dom Wood-Anderson on Sunday, and are in addition to the moves of both Ben Burr-Kirven and John Ursua to injured reserve.
