Yesterday, on Twitter, I asked the question, what are you the most concerned about with the 2021 Titans. I am going to write about some of those concerns here at MCM over the next few days. Today we take on the concern over the kicking game – a totally valid concern.

To say the Titans kicking game has been a mess the last two seasons would be putting it lightly. 2020 was better than 2019 on the whole. Sure, Stephen Gostkowski had his issues, especially earlier in the season, but that was nothing compared to what we saw the year before.

Currently, the Titans have two kickers on the roster – Tucker McCann and Blake Haubeil. McCann spent most of last year with the Titans. By most accounts, he is not the answer to the kicking problem. Haubeil is an undrafted rookie from Ohio State. He was a good kicker in college but limited reports from OTAs weren’t glowing.

My guess is that Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson have been in communication with Gostkowski. If they don’t like what they see from McCann and Haubeil early in camp Gostkowski will be signed. Why don’t they just go ahead and bring him in to make it a competition from the beginning? That’s an excellent question.

There is legitimate cause for concern here if for nothing else because of how the kicking game has been handled the last two years but I do feel like this one will all work out in the end. Now if Gostkowski signs with another team it will be time for more concern.
