Battle for Vegas goes Silver and Black’s way

In what has become an annual tradition, the Las Vegas Raiders and Golden Knights faced off against each other in a charity softball game. The Raiders were led by legendary running back Marcus Allen while Reilly Smith, a defenseman and alternate captain for the Knights served as their leader. Allen’s squad would get the better of Reilly’s as the Silver and Black won the “Battle for Vegas” by a score of 25 to 16.

That pushes the Raiders record to 2-0 against the Knights in the actual games, but the hockey team did get some revenge. The event included a home run derby where Johnathan Abram blasted seven homers.

However, the Raiders’ safety would be out-done by former Golden Knights’ defenseman Nate Schmidt, who delivered a clutch performance to give his team the 26-25 victory in the derby.

Of course, the real reason why both teams were there was to support people in need and that’s exactly what they did. The game raised $175,000 for local charities like the Grant a Gift Autism Foundation and The Miracle League of Las Vegas. An outstanding accomplishment that fans of both organizations can be proud of.
