Social media reacts to Texans’ new uniforms

It’s been 22 years since the Houston Texans had a makeover. Back then, it was called an introduction to the league.

All that changed Tuesday afternoon as Houston enters a new era of AFC South with a fresh new deisgn.

The Texans unveiled their four new uniforms just before the 2024 NFL draft, showing off a new look and feel to the reigning division winners. The designs are vastly different from each other as the Texans tried to provide a fit that worked for all demographics to enjoy.

Both the home and away uniforms remain similar with the blue helmet and bull logo, but there have been some modifications. The Deep Steel Blue color actually pays homage to the original Deep Steel Blue unveiled in 2000, and features “TEXANS” written over the logo with a bull on the sleeve.

The Liberty White hasn’t changed, though the sleeves feature a traditional stripe on the back and sides of the jersey that transforms into a bullhorn-inspired design from the front.

As for the alternates, Houston added more “pop” to its popular Battle Red look. It’s now an all-red design, including a red helmet with a chrome finish and face mask as a tribute to the car scene throughout the city. And instead the traditional bull’s head on the side, the helmet is the bull, donning blue horns that stretch across the side of the helmet.

Houston also has a new “Tribute to H-Town” look with a secondary logo. The bull is back in the stable for this design as the Texans decided to add a light blue “H” with a red outline for ‘”H-Town.” And yes, it’s legal to have that blue, much to the dismay of the Tennessee Titans’ fan base, who still own the rights to all the Oilers’ property after Bud Adams chose to leave Houston for the Volunteer State in 1996.

Overall, the look present a new feel in Houston. The Texans are fresh off an 11-8 season and division title. They have a franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud and perhaps the best young edge rusher since J.J. Watt in Will Anderson Jr.

Players and coaches loved the fit, but how do the fans feel?
