Xavier Legette is on to the Carolina Panthers.

The standout wideout was one of the featured prospects at the University of South Carolina’s pro day yesterday morning. And in attendance at the Long Family Football Operations Center and the Jerri and Steve Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility (*exhales*) was a bit of representation for the Panthers.

But this wasn’t the first time the organization sent out feelers for the big 6-foot-1, 221-pounder. Legette himself, per Joe Person of The Athletic, already disclosed that the Panthers had met with him twice during the Senior Bowl last month.

So when asked by WCNC Charlotte about Carolina’s heavy presence, he stated the obvious.

“That’s just them tellin’ me that they want me on their team,” Legette said. “A lot of coaches came and hollered at me before and after this process here. They say they got a buzz in their facility for me and I’m just ready to see where I’ma land.”

Legette turned in a stellar campaign during his final year for the Gamecocks. He reeled in 71 passes for 1,255 yards and seven scores, winding up with a second-team All-SEC selection in the process.

The Mullins, S.C. native is currently projected as a Day 2 pick. Carolina holds two second-round selections (No. 33 and No. 39) and one third-round selection (No. 65).
