The Pittsburgh Steelers are back at Training Camp, and it is time to check out what went down during the latest practice!

It isn’t Saint Vincent College, but it hasn’t been Latrobe, PA since 2019. The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking in their 2021 Training Camp between Heinz Field and their UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the Southside of Pittsburgh.

What went down during the latest training camp practice? That is where this article comes in. Check out all that was said, as well as photos and videos from the day’s workouts.

Here we go…

Every year, in every training camp location, there are camp scuffles. Some might be more scuffles, while others are full blown fights. Those who have been Pittsburgh Steelers fans long enough remember the fights between a young Antonio Brown and veteran Ike Taylor.

How long would it take for the fights to break out in this 2021 training camp? As it turns out, three practices.

During Saturday’s workout, it was a rookie trying to make a name for himself. Fourth round draft pick Dan Moore Jr. got into multiple scuffles with defensive linemen. This from Brooke Pryor of ESPN:

Outside of the fact Moore might want to find someone other than Heyward to engage with, if anything it shows the rookie from Texas A&M is willing to put up a fight.

Now let’s get to more news from the Saturday practice…

Spillane can do more than hit

As expected, Robert Spillane is now the starting ILB next to Devin Bush, and while many think of him as just a thumper in the run game, Spillane showed off some hands with a nice one-handed interception of Mason Rudolph. This isn’t the first time Spillane got his hands on a football, last season it was Spillane’s pick-six of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens which sparked the defense to a victory.

Beat up Offensive Line

It is early in camp, but never a good thing when all your centers are not available. Kendrick Green was given the day off for personal reasons, and both B.J. Finney and J.C. Hassenauer left practice on their own power. Green is expected to be back for Sunday’s practice.

Get out the pitchforks and torches

Some Steelers fans absolutely hate when Ben Roethlisberger gets a day off. Well, if that is you, you might want to go get your pitchforks and torches and storm the Steelers’ UPMC Rooney Sports Complex after Roethlisberger had the day off.

Not only do the Steelers typically follow this plan with Roethlisberger, but the team wants to get an extended look at Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins and Joshua Dobbs.

Ingram being used in multiple ways

The Steelers have a very versatile weapon in their newest defensive addition, Melvin Ingram. Ingram is showing he is capable of not just rushing from the outside, but also playing some on the interior of the defense in an almost inside linebacker look. As Mike Tomlin always says, the more you can do the better.

Kevin Dotson injury minor

Many fans are concerned about Kevin Dotson. The second year guard hasn’t been able to practice yet, but he was seen doing some individual work during Saturday’s practice. It seems the injury is minor, as Dotson is the starting left guard on the team’s first depth chart.

Not just 100%…

When the Steelers signed Melvin Ingram, there were a lot of questions about Ingram’s health. In front of reporters, Ingram said he is not just over his injury from 2020, but he is 100%. Actually, he said he is 200%…I’m not sure how that’s possible.

Here is video of Ingram talking about his health:

Not Deebo, Melvin

Want to compare Melvin Ingram to James Harrison? Think again…

Ingram on why he is wearing No. 8

We noted how Ingram wanted to wear the No. 8 when he came to the Steelers, he wore No. 54 with the Chargers, and he said it was a combination of his High School number, but also to honor the late Kobe Bryant.
