The second annual NFLPA club report cards are out and, as you can see from their report, it’s ugly for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They rank 28th overall in topics that range from treatment of facilities to head coach.

The team’s highest grade was Mike Tomlin’s A (9.6 out of 10, the fifth-best score leaguewide).

Their lowest ranking belongs to ownership, team president Art Rooney II. The ownership category, a topic new to the 2024 report, received an F, or 31st of 32 teams.

The report states: “Club owner Art Rooney II receives a rating of 5.8/10 from the Steelers players when considering his willingness to invest in the facilities.”

One look at their locker room category (F), training room category (D+) and weight room (C) should tell you all you need to know. The players are unhappy with the facilities, which points to the F ownership grade.

The Steelers’ facility, located at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex and housing their training and weight rooms, was constructed in 2000. Heinz Field, now Acrisure Stadium, opened a year later.

It’s evident from these poor grades that the facility is outdated. It could be a while before that changes. Three Rivers Stadium was home to the Steelers from 1970 to 2000, and they didn’t have a separate training facility before the opening of the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
