The Steelers rookie Center is getting some extra instruction this offseason.

The past few seasons, especially during the shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, current and former NFL Players have all been doing whatever they can to help each other at their respective positions.

Most players call these group think-tanks “summits”. The most recent to start this were tight ends when players like Eric Ebron, Travis Kelce, George Kittle and others had a large contingent of rookies and young tight ends together to help teach them the tricks of the trade. To help pass along their knowledge. The tight ends call their group “TE University”.

If the tight ends were the latest, the offensive line summit was the first. They call it the “Offensive Line Masterminds Summit” and they are in their 4th year of the summit. NFL alumni attend, like Brian Baldinger and others, to help young players increase their knowledge base.

It might be good for Pittsburgh Steelers fans to know one of their own was in attendance for the 4th annual summit. That would be none other than rookie guard/center Kendrick Green.

Green, the Steelers’ 3rd round draft pick, has high expectations placed on him in his first year as a professional. He could be the team’s starting center in Week 1 if he can beat out B.J. Finney and/or J.C. Hassenauer for the job, but he first needs to sign his rookie contract. Out of the Steelers’ 9 drafted rookies, Green is the only player who hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet. However, you could expect that to happen in the coming weeks with training camp approaching.

Hopefully, Green’s experience at the OLine Summit will benefit not just him, but the Steelers in 2021 and beyond.
