Considering Derrick Henry’s tear through the 2020 season, it’s easy to forget just how much attrition the Titans had to deal with on the offensive line. Taylor Lewan was the first domino to fall, delivering a big blow to the offense early in the season.

Lewan tore his ACL during week five, and was lost for the season. He quickly underwent surgery, and has spent time since in full rehab mode. However, according to Lewan, he’s advancing to the next phase, and things are going well.

“My ACL is doing great,” Lewan said this week. “Obviously, it was tough being out during the season, especially missing that much time. It has been a lot of time for reflecting and growing. The knee is doing really well. I am doing change of direction now, doing some running. I’ve never missed practice in my life – like missed it, like personally. I’ve missed going to practice.

“Watching the boys out there running around and playing ball, it definitely makes you miss it a whole bunch. I can’t wait for this season.”

Lewan will roll right back into his spot at left tackle, continuing to anchor an offensive line that just paved the way for a 2,000 yard rusher. Rodger Saffold, Ben Jones and Nate Davis will return, while we’ll see a battle play out in training camp for the right tackle spot.

Lewan has played in 90 career games to this point after being selected by the Titans in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He’s since appeared in three Pro Bowls, and will be looking to get back to that level in 2021.

For now, he’s still stuck on the sidelines. He wouldn’t make any promises on a return date, but it sounds like things are progressing towards a return at some point during training camp.
