Taylor Lewan’s message on a day where the offensive line was a liability

The Titans’ offensive line was a disaster today. That’s a tough pill to swallow when you think about all of the resources they have invested in that line over the years. Of course a big chunk of that investment, last year’s first-round pick, (Isaiah Wilson – traded, out of the league) and this year’s second-round pick (Dillon Radunz – inactive), were not in uniform today. Hopefully, Radunz will be able to make more of a contribution in his rookie year than Wilson did.

The one guy we all thought we could count on, Taylor Lewan, got beat repeatedly today. Chandler Jones ended the game with five sacks. At least four of those were on plays where he just straight up beat Lewan. To Lewan’s credit, he took an honest look in the mirror:

As an aside, to all of those that were making comments about Lewan worrying more about his podcast than football, that is garbage. Be better than that.

It’s just one week. We need to keep telling ourselves that over and over. With that being said, if the Titans are going to accomplish anything this season the line is going to have to be good. They can’t be good if Lewan isn’t good. This was his first game action off the ACL injury. He was obviously rusty.

Right tackle is a problem. David Quessenberry isn’t good enough against good competition. We knew that from the Ravens’ game last year. That’s why the hope was that Radunz would come in and win the job. He apparently isn’t close.

The whole group was bad today. It’s not time to push the panic button yet, but they better get some things figured out before they take the field in Seattle.
