As expected, the standoff between the Cincinnati Bengals and star wide receiver Tee Higgins doesn’t sound like it will end anytime soon.

That idea got some more ammunition on Thursday courtesy of a new report that says the team and player haven’t had contact. Not shocking, but confirmation doesn’t hurt.

Beyond that, Higgins himself hasn’t said much publicly on the topic.

But he sort of did recently.

Higgins jumped in the replies under a tweet from The Atheltic’s Paul Dehner Jr. and posted his own thoughts while defending his agent, David Mulugheta.

Mulugheta has drawn the ire of Bengals fans over the last few years after watching a similar standoff between the team and Jessie Bates, who wound up leaving in free agency a year after being franchise-tagged.

Higgins’ post:

Like the rest of this ordeal — not surprising, but notable.

As always, the likeliest outcome of the whole saga is that Higgins will play next season on the tag, then go from there, where a second tag could be applied or he’ll hit the open market.
