As Tennessee Titans 2021 free-agent acquisition and outside linebacker Bud Dupree continues to work his way back from a torn ACL, the question is: will he be ready for Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals?

According to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online, Dupree says that if the regular-season opener, which is schedule for Sept. 12, was today, he’d be ready.

“If the opener was this afternoon, and (they) told me to go out there, I am going to go out there,” Dupree said. “I’m going to be ready to go regardless.”

Dupree praised the Titans and their training staff for how they’ve handled his recovery. He believes that not only will he be his old self again, but even better than he was before.

“Pretty much everything I’ve done tested, (I’ve) checked the boxes off so far,” Dupree, who suffered a torn ACL last season while with the Steelers, said on Tuesday. “They have done a great job here. Hat’s off to the training staff, and hat’s off to coach (Mike) Vrabel for allowing me to go through that process.

“I am going out there to be my old self, and be better than I was last year.”

The Titans desperately need a big contribution from Dupree if they want to see a vast improvement on defense in 2021. Tennessee finished with the third-fewest sacks in the NFL last season.
