After a rough start to his Tennessee Titans tenure in 2019, left guard Rodger Saffold has settled in nicely and shown why he’s one of the best at his position in the NFL.

And now he’s receiving some recognition for his stellar play in Nashville, as Touchdown Wire’s Mark Schofield ranked Saffold as the No. 11 guard in the league ahead of the 2021 campaign.

Since entering the league in 2010 Roger Saffold has been a consistent performer up front for now two different organizations. Saffold began his career in Los Angeles with the Rams, starting as a left tackle during his rookie campaign before sliding inside to see time at both guard spots. His switch to left guard became permanent in 2017, and since then Saffold has been a force in the run game and as a pass blocker.

Saffold was one-fifth of an offensive line that paved the way for running back Derrick Henry to rush for 2,000 yards, and he received an First-Team All-Pro vote for his 2020 performance.

It’s also important to note that Saffold played through a nagging injury throughout the season, making his campaign even more impressive.

Looking ahead to the 2021 campaign, the Titans are returning four-fifths of their starting offensive line, including left tackle Taylor Lewan, who missed Tennessee’s final 11 games due to a torn ACL. Lewan’s return should make Saffold’s job a lot easier.

Despite his past success, the 33-year-old guard isn’t resting on his laurels and instead has been working hard as ever as he prepares for his 12th season. He has even taken young right guard Nate Davis under his wing in the process.
