To show you just how divided those around the NFL are on Tennessee Titans quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, we present to you two different lists of quarterback rankings.

In his list of the top 15 quarterbacks in the NFL going into 2021, Touchdown Wire’s Mark Schofield ranks Tannehill at No. 10, describing the signal-caller as “a joy to watch.”

As I argue in one of the following videos, one of my favorite quarterbacks to study each Monday is Tennessee Titans passer Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill’s rebirth in Tennessee has been a joy to watch, and it has provided hope for players like Carson Wentz and Sam Darnold as they look to turn around their own careers.

A multitude of traits stand out when studying Tannehill. From his ability to set and reset in the pocket, how he works through progressions on various concepts, and his ability to make anticipation throws under duress to all levels of the field, Tannehill is one of the first QBs I study each Monday:

While the argument can certainly be made for Tannehill to be higher after what he has done the past two seasons, we’ll take it when you consider he didn’t even make the top 10 of ESPN’s quarterback rankings.

Making his snub from ESPN’s top 10 worse, the list was compiled based on the opinions of 50 executives, players and coaches around the NFL.

You would think those directly involved in the game would be able to better appreciate what Tannehill has done since coming to Nashville en route to him landing in the top 10, but that is not the case.

Instead, Tannehill was placed in the “others receiving votes” section. Here’s what one unnamed coordinator had to say about the Titans signal-caller, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans: “He’s solid — not elite, but incredibly efficient. You can win big with that, with the right supporting cast.” — NFL coordinator

The 10 quarterbacks who did make the rankings compiled by Fowler are as follows:

  1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
  2. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
  3. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  4. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
  5. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
  6. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
  7. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
  8. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
  9. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
  10. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Does Tannehill deserve to be ahead of at least one of those players? We definitely think so.

Perhaps another near-elite-level season from Tannehill will be enough to change the hearts and minds of those who still doubt him, but we aren’t holding our breath for that to happen.
