Welcome to the Terrible Towel Tales, where we’ll highlight some of the latest stories permeating Steelers media for your reading pleasure every Monday through Saturday. In today’s news…

Insider Predicts Steelers Draft Trade | Noah Strackbein, All Steelers

The Steelers have done their homework on almost all of the top centers in the draft class, bringing in Jackson Powers-Johnson for a pre-draft visit and meeting with Graham Barton and Sedrick Van Pran at the NFL Combine. They had Pat Meyer at Oregon’s Pro Day, Arthur Smith at Duke’s and Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan at Georgia’s.

Despite early belief Powers-Johnson may be gone before the Steelers’ pick, the trend now has him falling into the second round. There may be all of the top centers still on the board by the Steelers first pick at 20, leaving them with options in the second round as well.

However, let us offer three more names. First up is Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Everyone has been talking about Tyler Boyd, who is a free agent, but Higgins is currently on the franchise tag, and it’s hard to see Cincinnati getting him locked into a contract.

Maybe the Steelers will look at a player who can come in and have an instant connection with a new starting quarterback. This is why we included Seattle Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett and Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the poll.

Former Steelers DL Armon Watts Reveals Why He Signed with Patriots | Nick Farabaugh, Steelers Now

“Pittsburgh showed some interest, but I feel like at the end of the day New England wanted me more. It’s a good organization,” Watts said.

Watts’ new deal will be worth up to $3 million, far exceeding what he made a year ago for Pittsburgh. Likely what Watts is referring to is price, and that Pittsburgh did not want to pay as much as New England.
