Arizona State adds Steelers great Hines Ward as WRs coach | Pete Thamel, ESPN

Hines Ward has been hired as Arizona State’s next wide receivers coach, the school announced Sunday.

“I am truly honored to join Arizona State University football as wide receivers coach,” Ward, the Super Bowl XL MVP and two-time Super Bowl champion, said in a statement Sunday. “It’s an incredible opportunity to share my passion for the game with a group of talented young men and help them reach their full potential. The culture and energy here in the Valley is special and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Ward also brings coaching experience. He is a former wide receivers coach at Florida Atlantic and has been an offensive assistant for the New York Jets as well as a head coach in the XFL.

Former Steelers players reunite to roast former coach Bill Cowher | CBS

Several of Cowher’s former players enjoyed the chance to tell some stories.

“I don’t have a chin story, but I do have a story from today,” James Harrison began to share. “It’s not always when he’s upset. It’s just when he’s excited, it starts flying out of his mouth while he’s talking. So, anytime you talk to him like I was just talking to him when he first got here, he was a little excited to see me. You gotta stand to a 45 [degree angle], so half the spit goes over here so it doesn’t land on your lip or something like that.”

Browns QB Deshaun Watson takes shot at Steelers defense | Allison Koehler, Steelers Wire

Deshaun Watson raised the topic of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense on the April 5 episode of his QB Unplugged podcast and spoke like someone who’s handled it in the past.

“The biggest thing is get the defense in what we want to get the defense in, and that’s a base defense, especially a team like Pittsburgh,” Watson said. “When they’re in base defense, they don’t play too many coverages. It’s very limited on what they’re doing. They kind of very schemed to how they play.”
