Houston Texans 2021 player profile: DE Charles Omenihu

The jury is still out on several players the Houston Texans selected during the 2019 NFL Draft. But out of the seven players drafted, Charles Omenihu has entrenched him as Houston’s most promising prospect from the class.

Defensive line coach Bobby King appreciates the versatility that Omenihu has and what he can bring to the new Tampa 2 scheme.

“Charles is a guy that has versatility just because of his size and length,” King told reporters on a Zoom call on June 8. “You can play him at a lot of positions and he can affect the quarterback in a lot of different ways. That’s the thing with Chuck. We’re telling him don’t be a square peg in a round hole. If we ask you to play three-technique, six-technique, five-technique, whatever, he’s up for it and we expect big things from Chuck this year.”

As he enters his third year with the Texans, the 2021 campaign could be a breakout season for Omenihu.
