Guiding a once-moribund franchise to a 3-3 record heading into the bye week can elevate a quarterback’s stock.

Thanks to the Houston Texans’ 20-13 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, the Texans are able to enjoy their off week and all of the fruits that come from the momentum.

According to Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports, one thing that has been proven through the first six weeks of the season is that the Texans’ C.J. Stroud is the 10th-best quarterback in a series of QB power rankings.

He should be at the top of the polls for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Even after throwing his first career pick against the Saints, he hung in there against a tough “D.” Houston is a surprise spoiler, and his quiet leadership is carrying them.

If Stroud is No. 10, who could be behind the No. 2 overall pick?

Try the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence at No. 11.

Of course, rankings that are generated on a weekly basis represent a snapshot of where teams and players are. For Stroud, having the eighth-highest passer rating among qualifiers at 96.4 — better than Lawrence’s 91.7 — demonstrates the rookie is consistent.

No doubt Stroud and the Texans will be challenged over the next 11 games now that there is substantial film available. Nevertheless Houston and their quarterback have shown to this point they can handle obstacles along the way.
