The Houston Texans have had quite the fortnight.

The Texans upset the defending AFC South champion Jacksonville Jaguars with a 37-17 beatdown at EverBank Field, and then followed up with another impressive performance in a 30-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at NRG Stadium.

Houston’s wins were, not only convincing, but driven by solid, mature quarterback play from C.J. Stroud. The Texans demonstrated in both wins a sustainable plan of attack that should generate sustained success going forward.

According to Jarrett Bailey from the Touchdown Wire, the Texans moved up from No. 23 to No. 14 in this week’s power rankings.

The Texans have opened up consecutive cans of whoop-ass over the last two weeks, winning their last two games by a combined score of 67-23. They have the right head coach and the right quarterback to lead them for the next decade.

Stroud is on pace to throw for over 5,000 yards, and is fourth in the NFL with 1,212 passing yards. What is most impressive about the former Ohio State product’s first four games is the fact he has thrown 151 passes without an interception.

DeMeco Ryans may not be as fixated on takeaways as his predecessor, but the Texans’ penchant for turnovers has carried over. Houston is tied for the 12th-most turnovers in the league with five.

Across the rest of the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans are No. 25. The Indianapolis Colts are No. 18. The Jaguars cracked the top-10 with a No. 9 placement.
