Houston Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn never gets nervous under pressure. During the Week 15 matchup against the Tennessee Titans without rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was in concussion protocol, Fairbairn’s 54-yard game-winning field goal in overtime kept the Texans’ playoff hopes alive.

So, it was easy for him to step to the free-throw line in front of the Houston Rockets fans at the Toyota Center on Mar. 14 and hit the first shot for charity with his former teammate DeAndre Hopkins watching.

It has been a very eventful week for the eighth-year veteran. Fairbairn signed a three-year $15.9 million contract to stay with the Texans, just one of the many free agent moves made by general manager Nick Caserio.

“I am excited,” Fairbairn told Texans Wire about the new additions to the team. “I’m excited to get back to work. I am grateful to be able to sign my contract and stay the team. There is a lot to look forward to with our team. We just have to put in the work and expect the best.”

Fairbairn made the case to re-sign him easily this past season. He connected on 27-of-28 field goals (96.4%) and 21-of-22 extra point attempts (95.5%). His 96.4% field goal percentage on the season marks his career’s highest field goal percentage in a single season.

The Texans re-signed Fairbairn’s 2023 teammate Dalton Schultz as well and added some major pieces to the offense and defense after the acquisitions of edge rusher Danielle Hunter, defensive lineman Denico Autry and running back Joe Mixon.
