The Houston Texans will reportedly be without starting left guard Tytus Howard for the rest of the 2023 season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Howard, who left Week 12 with a knee injury, will reportedly have surgery to fix the injury.

This is Howard’s second major injury this season after he missed the first four games of the season with a broken hand. He returned in Week 5 and played every offensive snap until he suffered the knee injury 14 snaps into Week 12.

The blow is huge for a Texans squad looking to make a playoff push at the end of the season. Second-round rookie Juice Scruggs played after Howard left Week 12 and will likely fill in once more in Week 13.

Howard signed a three-year, $56 million contract this past offseason.
