Another Houston Texans coach will come back to the team in 2024 despite offers from other programs.

Safeties coach Stephen Adegoke will reportedly return to the team despite reportedly accepting a position with the University of Michigan, according to KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. Adegoke was set to become the Wolverines’ secondary coach but decided to remain with the Texans, per Wilson.

This marks the fourth position coach or coordinator head coach DeMeco Ryans was able to retain despite courtship from other organizations. Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson both returned on new contracts despite multiple interviews for promotions elsewhere, while assistant offensive line coach Cole Popovich also came back. It’s unclear if Adegoke was also given a new contract.

Adegoke, 29, joined Ryans staff this season after he spent the 2022 season with Ryans on the San Francisco 49ers staff as a defensive quality control coach. Adegoke previously spent time as a graduate assistant for then-Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh in 2021. He was also a graduate assistant for two years at Florida.
