Houston gets another piece to bulk up the defense
Houston added to the linebacking room in free agency with the addition of Azeez Al-Shaair, and now they add to it further in the draft:
With the 188th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select:
LB Jamal Hill, Oregon

Hill, a longtime starting defender for the Oregon Ducks, was formerly a safety/cornerback. He’s since added weight and transformed into a sort of “big nickel” cornerback, but he continued to be a fast and aggressive tackler into his later years in Eugene.
New #Texans linebacker Jamal Hill ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds at 226 pounds with a 33-inch vertical leap and a 10-1 broad jump. His 40-yard dash would have led all linebackers at the combine and tied him with the best safety time @KPRC2

Like the several other Houston draft selection earlier, this a talented athlete that general manager Nick Caserio and head coach DeMeco Ryans want to bring into the Texans’ building. He fits the bill of the other defensive backs taken earlier in the draft, so why not get another. At worst, he can be a special teams contributor.
Jamal Hill to the Texans is no surprise after meeting w/them multiple times
•My LB 17 (potential hybrid role), 212th overall player
•Smooth, quick feet
•Screaming downhill speed
•Angry hitter that establishes a physical presence

What do you think though? Was this a good pick, or is would you have rather seen someone else get selected? Let us know in the comments below!
