INDIANAPOLIS — Texas A&M is starting to become “Running Back U” for the amount of backfield talent that has entered into the NFL.

Aggies running back Devon Achane figures to be the latest runner to leave College Station and make an impact in the NFL. The Missouri City Thurgood Marshall High School product shared advice that Isaiah Spiller gave him while watching the Aggies play in 2022.

“I talked to Isaiah when he came to one of our games,” Achane said. “I asked him what it was like in the NFL and what’s different. And he was saying Jimbo [Fisher’s] have a really hard offense to learn. When you get that, it’s very, very complicated playbook, but he was saying basically it’s the same thing but different terminology. Just the game moves a whole lot faster because everyone is good.”

Spiller had an abbreviated season with the Chargers as he played in six games. The 6-1, 225-pound back had 18 carries for 41 yards and caught three passes for 13 yards.

The Chargers took Spiller in Round 4 (No. 123 overall). No matter where Achane goes, he is certain that NFL team will be making an investment they won’t regret.

“They are getting a great young man, a great leader, just an all around person,” said Achane. “Just a great person off the field as well.”

Achane had 196 carries for 1,102 yards and eight touchdowns while also catching 36 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. The 5-9, 185-pound running back intends to go through receiving drills in addition to running back drills at the combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.
