Fantasy Football: 5 Bold NFL Predictions for Week 4 – Fake Teams
4.) Miles Sanders is a top 5 RB this week. Justification: If it doesn’t happen this week I just don’t know when it will. Sanders is off to a bad start and he comes up against KC, who has allowed 4 rushing TDs through 3 games this season. This is the PRIME chance for Philadelphia to get Sanders jump-started for the 2021 season.

Since returning to power in 2016 Howie Roseman and his front office have made an art form out of blowing draft picks on wide receivers and cornerbacks. Eagles fans know all too well that they passed on Justin Jefferson for Jalen Reagor and DK Metcalf for JJ Arcega-Whiteside. But those headliners overshadow an undercard of futility. Entering Monday’s game, the top three second-era Roseman draft picks by receiving yards were Dallas Goedert, Miles Sanders, and Wendell Smallwood. Smallwood was barely eclipsed by Jalen Reagor on Monday; Reagor is on pace to get passed by Quez Watkins. The list doesn’t get any better if you consider Roseman’s entire career, he’s pre-Chip Kelly exile WR history was Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, and Marvin McNutt. It’s not just the draft picks. No one can be faulted for the previously durable Mike Wallace (remember him?) suffering a season ending injury, but trading Torrey Smith for an offseason of Daryl Worley and giving up a 3rd round pick for 8 games of Golden Tate left the Eagles with nothing. The team also swapped draft picks for the pleasure of the oft injured DeSean Jackson spending the bulk of two seasons burning cap space that directly impacts this season. Greg Ward has more receiving yards than second stint Jackson and Tate combined.

4. Howie Roseman’s failure to draft impact defensive players has really had a catastrophic effect on the franchise. Since the 2013 draft, the Eagles have drafted 37 defensive players — 15 in the first four rounds. As Eagles, those 37 players have combined for 27 interceptions, 53 1/2 sacks and 13 forced fumbles. That’s 93 1/2 impact plays in 131 games over eight-plus seasons. The only draft picks during the last nine years with more than two interceptions as Eagles are Jordan Hicks (7), Rasul Douglas (5), Jalen Mills (5) and Nate Gerry (3). The only draft picks with more than six sacks over the last nine years are Derek Barnett (19 1/2) and Josh Sweat (10 1/2). And the only draft picks with more than two forced fumbles during that span are Sweat, Barnett and Bennie Logan (3 each). For the sake of comparison, Brian Dawkins had 34 interceptions, 21 sacks and 32 forced fumbles just by himself in his 13 years here. So one guy had 87 impact plays as an Eagle, and the entire 2013 through 2021 draft classes have 93 1/2. Mind-blowing.

Andre Dillard and Derek Barnett don’t appear to have much in common aside from the team they play for and the round in which they were drafted. But the two former first-round picks do know firsthand what it’s like to watch teammates who play the same position sign contract extensions ahead of them, even though they were drafted in rounds behind them. In a span of a week last month, tackle Jordan Mailata and defensive end Josh Sweat inked multi-year contracts. The former was drafted a year ahead of Dillard in the seventh round, while the latter was selected a year after Barnett in the fourth. While the deals don’t preclude the Eagles from also signing Dillard and Barnett to extensions, they do suggest that each is nearing the end of his tenure in Philadelphia. But such has been the fate for many of the team’s recent No. 1 picks. Since the 2013 draft, there has been only one first-rounder who has reached a second contract with the Eagles, and quarterback Carson Wentz (the 2016 draft) was traded less than two years after agreeing to the extension.

I also thought the defense took a small step forward against the Chargers. Perhaps that continues. Watching this Eagles team on Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, I just find that the Chiefs are in another class — even though the Chiefs and Eagles both have the same 1-2 record. As Chiefs players came to the podium this week, the in-house theme became clear: “We’re not letting this happen again.” The Chiefs win (and for bettors, finally cover), avoiding a collective mashing of the panic button in Kansas City. Chiefs 34, Eagles 14.

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, can write his name in the NFL record book with a win Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. Per the Boston Globe: Reid, with a 99-45 record with the Chiefs, can become the first coach in history with 100 wins for two teams. And he can do it on Sunday in Philadelphia, where he compiled a 140-102-1 record.

A dominating win over a division rival always gets the juices flowing. That is exactly what the Dallas Cowboys had in their crushing of the Philadelphia Eagles, which was not even as close as the 20-point margin of victory would indicate. The win has visions of deep playoff runs dancing in the heads of the fan base. Did it really tell us enough, however? The Eagles appear to be a hot mess right now. Dallas now faces the 3-0 Carolina Panthers. That may be a much better test of just how much of a contender the Cowboys are. Or maybe not. Our Terence Watson and Tom Ryle take a deeper look.

The New York Giants have officially activated wide receiver John Ross off of their injured reserve. We knew this move was coming when the Giants designated Ross for return off of the injured reserve on Wednesday. This week was the first opportunity for the Giants to activate either Ross or rookie EDGE Ellerson Smith off of their injured reserve list. The Giants will be without wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton this week after they each suffered hamstring injuries last week against the Atlanta Falcons. It was widely expected that the Giants would designate Ross to return from the IR given the injuries to Shepard and Slayton.

Matchups to Watch: Week 4 @Dolphins – Stampede Blue
Matt Eberflus Vs. Jacoby Brissett. The Colts’ defense will go against a quarterback they know all too well after he spent most of his career either as a starter or backup in Indy. Eberflus has plenty of reasons to be familiar with Jacoby Brissett, and the Colts probably know his strengths and weaknesses better than any other NFL team. Brissett played well in his first start in a Dolphins uniform, but he is just not a dynamic passer that can lead an offense. He had 49 passing attempts for just 215 yards, good for 4.38 YPA, a laughable number. In fact, his running back Myles Gaskin had more yards per carry than Brissett had yards per attempt! The Colts defense has been really bad to start off the season, and are nowhere close to the expectations they set for themselves for this campaign. If the unit is to shake off the rough start, what better matchup than this one?

Report: Gronkowski could miss “weeks” with fractured ribs – PFT
If the Buccaneers thought that Gronk will be out for at least 12 more days, they could have put him on injured reserve. By rule, he can return after missing only three games. Since he’s already missing Sunday’s game at New England, he would then have to miss only two more — next Sunday against the Dolphins and the following Thursday against the Eagles. But he hasn’t been placed on IR, so it’s unclear whether they’re convinced he’ll miss both Week Five and Week Six, in addition to Week Four.
