The Zach Ertz trade has the potential to go down as a major positive for Goedert and his outlook for the remainder of this season […] he’s got a top-10 floor and a top-five ceiling.The fourth-year North Dakota State product registered an 11.7% target share over the season’s first five weeks, a rate much lower than Ertz’s 14.1%. Now, with the path cleared, it’s safe to expect Goedert to eat into a lot of those vacated targets. He also happens to have a great matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders coming up. Las Vegas Raiders defense vs. opposing tight ends — Receiving yards: 407 (fifth-most). Receiving touchdowns: 4 (second-most).

How about now? OK, well did you know the Raiders allow the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season? Still not convinced? Seriously? OK, now you’re just being stubborn.

“We are so incredibly excited for the coach you are and the coach you can become.” The coach you can become. It’s a telling quote. It’s an admittance that the 2021 Eagles are a work in progress, which is of course exactly what the expectation should be. And it’s an admittance that Nick Sirianni is himself a work in progress, which again is exactly what the expectation should be for a 40 year old first time head coach and play caller. But I keep coming back to it because the coach that Nick Sirianni is and is becoming has not been and is not inspiring. The season opener was a great start, but it now looks like fool’s gold. Sirianni appears to be becoming something resembling the worst version of Chip Kelly. Watching the 2021 Eagles I get the same sense of going nowhere dread I got watching the 2015 team. Even the numbers, which are besides the point, are similar.

Miles Sanders rush attempts: 9.5. Good things happen when Sanders is allowed to run the football. The problem is, for whatever reason, head coach Nick Sirianni isn’t letting his running back get any kind of momentum this season. The third-year pro is getting less than 10 rushing attempts per game, despite the fact that he’s running for 4.7 yards per try. He’s also yet to score a touchdown this season, leaving his fantasy owners desperate and looking for a buyer. It’s really hard to sustain an offense that barely even tries any designed runs. Jalen Hurts has five rushing touchdowns and 30 more rushing yards than Sanders this year. And while it’s a huge plus to have a quarterback who can utilize his legs as frequently as Hurts does, failing to involve your running backs can make RPOs and play action passes a lot less effective. There are a ton of reasons why Sanders needs to be involved more, and eventually Sirianni has to see the writing on the wall, right? OVER.

What’s next for Hurts? “I’m seeing him grow as a player,” Head Coach Nick Sirianni told me earlier this week. “We know he’s such a dynamic player with his feet and being able to get out of pressures. Slowly but surely you want to see him become a better player within the pocket. I definitely see him improving in that area.” A better player within the pocket. That’s the key step for any young quarterback in this league. Many of them have played in a spread attack in college, so when they get to the NFL, the adjustment period is intense. Forever in his football life, Hurts has had the ability to escape the pocket and make plays with his feet, and that skill set has served him so very well. But he, like every quarterback with that kind of multidimensional ability, has to grow in the pocket. It takes time to develop comfort, confidence, vision, and timing. And that’s where Hurts is in his development, and that’s what the Eagles are drilling him on – better play setting up and throwing from the pocket. It isn’t something, Sirianni says and Hurts understands, that happens overnight.

Johnathan Hankins is hands-down one of the best run defenders on Las Vegas’ defense. He does a lot that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet like taking away rushing lanes by plugging up gaps and helping to cut the field in half. That’s why it was such a big deal when he couldn’t suit up last week with a hip injury. The big man returned to practice in a limited role on Wednesday this week, which is a good sign he’ll be ready to go against Philadelphia. That’s good news because the Raiders are going to need him big time on Sunday.

No deal. No. No. No. No. No. I have made this clear before — trading Barkley at the deadline is a dumb thing to do. It would be selling low. Way low. A pick that will probably land late in Round 1 in exchange for Barkley and a pick that right now would come in at No. 68 overall is not a good deal for me. The right thing to do is to get Barkley healthy, let him play the second half of the season and hopefully rebuild his value. Once he has done that you sit down with ownership in the offseason and have a frank conversation about Barkley? Is he part of your future and deserving a long-term second contract? Or, is trading him for the best package you can find and moving in a new direction the best thing? If you do decide to trade him, I think you will generate better offers at that point.

Cornerback Xavien Howard continues to be hampered by shoulder and groin issues, was listed as questionable for the game. Cornerback Byron Jones, who has Anchilles and groin injuries, was also questionable. Wide receivers DeVante Parker, with shoulder and hamstring issues, and Preston Williams, with a groin problem, were also listed as questionable. All four players missed last week’s game. Center Greg Mancz, who is dealing with a groin issue, and linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who has an ankle problem, were also listed as questionable.

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton Downgraded to ‘Out’; OG Quenton Nelson Activated Off IR Among Roster Moves – Stampede Blue
The Indianapolis Colts announced a handful of roster maneuvers as starting veteran wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (quad) has been downgraded to ‘Out’ ahead of Sunday Night Football’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. After leading the Colts with 4 receptions for 80 receiving yards versus the Houston Texans last weekend, Hilton was forced to leave the game with the quad injury and did not return—with the game already well decided. While his injury isn’t expected to be a long-term one, the Colts may be taking a cautious approach with the 31 year old veteran, who the team had just gotten back from injury prior to. Hilton will join Braden Smith (foot/thumb), Kemoko Turay (groin), Rock Ya-Sin (ankle), and Jordan Wilkins (non-football illness)—on what’s an ‘army of Colts inactives’ for Sunday night.

I’m not going to try and sugar coat this week: There’s a whole lot of ass. The majority of Week 7 is full of bad football, or very clear winners. That said, it’s not all bad. There are some really, really good games this week that have some fascinating storylines attached to them. So let’s check out the games you should try to watch this week, avoiding the rest of the muck the schedule has to offer.

Who should get a Covid-19 booster shot right now? – Vox
It may be time for your Covid-19 vaccine booster shot. The Food and Drug Administration has now authorized additional doses of all three Covid-19 vaccines in the US — Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson — for certain higher-risk groups and has said that booster shots don’t have to be the same brand as the first round of vaccination. The CDC has seconded those recommendations. The government’s recommendations for booster doses are based on different subgroups’ risk from Covid-19; thus far, boosters are only recommended for older adults or people at higher risk because of their health or occupation. Experts have debated to what extent boosters are appropriate for everybody, given the evidence of persistently strong protection against severe illness for many people. But most seem to agree an additional dose makes sense to increase immunity for people considered more vulnerable to the virus.
