The Pittsburgh Steelers have added an offensive lineman as they prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles this Thursday night.

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to manipulate their 90-man offseason roster in hopes of getting the absolute best out of their roster during their four game preseason. The latest transaction the team has made was waiving defensive lineman Calvin Taylor injured, and signing offensive guard Malcolm Pridgeon.

Pridgeon was in Pittsburgh this past weekend for a workout, and obviously did enough to impress the Steelers enough to add him to the roster.

For a little background on Pridgeon, he was a COVID opt-out for the Cleveland Browns in 2020, and was released from the organization prior to the start of training camp. The 6’7” 310-lb offensive guard is an Ohio State graduate and got into the league in 2019 after signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted rookie free agent. He was released, and eventually signed with the Browns and spent the 2019 season on their practice squad..

Pridgeon will likely have the opportunity to play plenty in the upcoming preseason games as the Steelers won’t want to stress their roster throughout the remaining exhibition games. With an NFL offseason roster very fluid, this won’t be the Steelers’ last transaction made ahead of the 2021 regular season.

With that said, be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers as they conclude training camp, press on through the preseason and prepare for the 2021 regular season.
