Let’s make things a little more interesting

If you were looking to make Sunday’s game a little more interesting, Michelle Magdziuk and I packed today’s Gold Digger’s podcast with tons of gambling and fantasy advice. If you don’t know, Michelle is a researcher for the NFL Network and also the Director of Content for Ball Blast Football. Here are three of the best bets you can make in the 49ers game this week.

Deebo Samuel over 58.5 receiving yards

Whether you believe something is going on between Brandon Aiyuk and Kyle Shanahan or not, it doesn’t seem to be affecting Deebo Samuel. His 12 targets last week were more than twice those of any other receiver. Plus, five of those 12 targets were at least 10 yards down the field. So the opportunities will be there for Deebo on Sunday, and we believe he’ll take advantage of them.

Jimmy Garoppolo under 1.5 passing touchdowns

This one might look like a slight towards Garoppolo, but it isn’t meant to be one. I just think that the majority of the touches in the red zone will go to running backs Kyle Juszczyk, jet sweeps, and Trey Lance. Last week, the 49ers ran seven plays inside the Lions’ red zone, and Garoppolo passed the ball just two times. In his time in San Francisco, Garoppolo averages 1.46 touchdowns per game (and that’s without TD vulture Trey Lance on the roster). So there’s an argument to be made that you can make money in the long run simply by taking the under on this single bet all season long.

Jalen Hurts over 48.5 rushing yards

You know the story by now when it comes to the 49ers and mobile quarterbacks. It’s kind of a thing. While it is true that Nick Bosa said yesterday that Hurts isn’t looking to run, I think he’s going to have to take off out of necessity. The 49ers have much better pass rushers than the Atlanta Falcons, and they tend to get up the field quickly and create running lanes for quarterbacks.

Couple that with the fact that Philadelphia uses a heavy dose and RPOs, and they could be hurt by Jalen’s legs all day long (yeah, I went there).
