The Tennessee Titans continued to inch closer to the 80-man roster limit, something they must abide by before 4:00 pm Eastern on Tuesday, August 24th.

The team waived-injured the following three players earlier today: Kicker Tucker McCann, offensive lineman Ross Reynolds, and offensive lineman Paul Adams, per Jim Wyatt and the team.

McCann was injured in the team’s preseason opener against the Falcons when he got roughed up on a field goal attempt. The Falcons were flagged for the infraction, and McCann hasn’t practiced since. It’s a rough break for McCann, who was 2-of-2 on his field goal attempts in the contest. It opened up the door for fellow kicker Sam Ficken to get a leg up in the kicking competition, something he did by making an astounding 58-yard field goal against the Buccaneers in the second preseason game. Ficken is currently the only kicker on the roster.

Adams, a Tennessee native, was injured during the contest against the Falcons. It appeared to be a wrist injury, as he was seen leaving the contest holding that part of the body. He was clearly in some pain. Reynolds didn’t appear in the game against the Buccaneers.

In addition to these moves, the team placed defensive tackle Anthony Rush on the Covid-19/reserve list today. The news comes just a day after head coach Mike Vrabel announced he tested positive for the virus. The Reserve/COVID-19 list was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons. If a player falls into either of these categories, his club is required to immediately place the player on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Rush has quietly been impressing at camp lately, and has a good chance to make the roster. Let’s hope this doesn’t set him back.

By my count, the Titans are currently at 82 players on the roster, which means they have to release two more before tomorrow’s deadline. As always, stay tuned to MCM for updates.
