The Titans are now at 85.

The Tennessee Titans had to trim the roster to 85 players today, as a part of the NFL’s new roster rules. Today, August 17th, teams go from 90 to 85. Next week, August 24th, teams will trim from 85 to 80. Final cuts to get to 53 will take place on August 31st.

To get to 85 players today, the Titans waived offensive lineman Paul Adams. The team also place newly signed safety Tedric Thompson on injured reserve, along with defensive lineman Trevon Coley.

Coley is the most noteworthy here after a strong showing on Friday night in Atlanta. He was a part of a dominant defensive front that really made life tough on quarterback AJ McCarron.

Thompson suffered an injury during the open practice on Monday night at Nissan Stadium.

Adams, a member of the 2020 practice squad, is the lone cut of the day. The Nashville native attended CPA, before playing for Missouri in college.

The Titans will be back in action on Saturday night in Tampa Bay, taking on the Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers. Ahead of the game, the two teams will hold two join practices on Wednesday and Thursday.
