Brady, at 44 years old, is looking better than ever for the Buccaneers
It’s something to marvel. Truly. Whether you’re a fan of the Buccaneers or not – a fan of Brady or not – what Tom Brady is doing at the age of 44 is incredible. As he’s just fourteen touchdown passes away from throwing more of them in his 40’s than he did in his 20’s, Brady has received the FedEx Air Player of the Week honor for the second consecutive week to start the 2021 season.
Brady now leads the NFL with nine touchdown passes, the second most through two games in NFL history. He finished the week two matchup with division rival Atlanta by throwing for 276 yards and five touchdowns on 24-of-36 passing in the 48-25 win.
Per a press release from the Buccaneers, dating back to Week 16 of the 2020 season, Brady has thrown four-or-more touchdown passes in four consecutive regular season games, joining Peyton Manning (five-game streak, 10/31/04-11/25/04) and Dan Marino (four-game streak, 11/26/84-12/17/84) as the only three players in NFL history with at least four consecutive games of at least four passing touchdowns.
Since joining the Bucs, Brady ranks second in the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns as the Buccaneers have won ten consecutive games, the last nine having scored over 30 points – an NFL record.
Brady is preparing to play his first game in the city of Los Angeles and will have lots of family and friends in attendance to watch the game between the Bucs and the Los Angeles Rams. Both teams seem to be the consensus top two in various power rankings and could be a preview of the NFC Championship game. The Bucs will likely be without wide receiver Antonio Brown, making the game that much more difficult – but could lead to Brady winning a third straight Air Player of the Week award if things turn into a shootout.
