The Jaguars continue to add to the team this off season, this time with a key addition to the front office.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly adding an additional mind to the front office braintrust. Per NFL insider, Adam Schefter, former University of Michigan Director of Player Personnel Tom Gamble will be rejoining the Jaguars front office before the coming draft.

Gamble was previously hired by the Jaguars in 2021 as the Senior Personnel Executive, before deciding to follow Jim Harbaugh to the University of Michigan as their Director of Player Personnel. This will be Gamble’s fourth role under Jaguars General Manager Trent Baalke, serving with him in San Francisco from 2005-2012 and 2015-2016. Tom previously served as the 49ers Director of Player Personnel, Assistant General Manager, & was, for all intents and purposes, the Jaguars 2021 Assistant General Manager.

Note: The Jaguars’ 2021 front office featured no official role with the title of Assistant GM in 2021. However, Gamble was the ‘Senior Personnel Executive’ before the role was later officially carved out and filled with the hiring of Ethan Waugh. The team release upon initially hiring Gamble in 2021 outlined that Gamble would “assist General Manager Trent Baalke in all areas of player personnel,” which sounds pretty close to an Assistant GM job description, at his level.

It is still unknown what role Gamble will hold in this current front office makeup, with Waugh currently filling the Assistant GM office. However, based on Gamble’s extensive track record of player evaluation and assessment in both the NFL and the college ranks, this reunion would have to be considered another positive move for Baalke this off season.

Keep stacking those off season wins, Trent. And a sincere welcome back to Tom! We left the light on for you.
