Twitter reacts to Bears landing Simone Biles (and her husband)

Welcome to Chicago, Simone Biles.

The Bears have agreed to terms with former Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens, who’s also the husband of the GOAT herself, Simone Biles.

Owens is signing a two-year deal (value currently unknown), as first reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Owens started 11 games with the Packers last season, where he totaled 84 tackles, including two for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups. Before joining Green Bay, Owens was signed as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans.

This is the second move at safety for general manager Ryan Poles in free agency. Chicago signed Kevin Byard before the start of free agency to replace the departed Eddie Jackson. Now, the Bears have shored up their safety group even more with Owens, who figures to be the primary backup and a key special teams contributor.

As you can imagine, there was plenty of reaction around the NFL. Bears fans were celebrating the pending arrival of Biles (and her husband, of course) while Packers fans were mourning their loss to a bitter rival. Now, Chicago gets its own version of Taylor Swift in Biles, who’s gearing up to compete in the Olympics this summer.
