The latest injury news from Wednesday’s Chiefs training camp practice.
As Kansas City Chiefs training camp continued on Wednesday morning, a total of nine players didn’t put on their pads before walking down to the practice field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. One other injured player was absent. The Kansas City Star’s Herbie Teope had the summary.
Nine Chiefs not in pads today: Tyreek Hill, Juan Thornhill, Deandre Baker, Nick Keizer, Evan Baylis, Chad Williams, Kyle Long and Malik Herring. Mike Remmers not here.

On Tuesday, Hill gave it a go, but ended up leaving practice early. The Chiefs said that he was suffering from tendonitis in his knee. Thornhill and Williams missed another day on the practice field as they nurse groin strains. Baylis has an ankle injury. Remmers is reported to be dealing with back issues. Keizer, Long and Herring remain on the team’s injury lists.
As practice began, Baker’s injury was unknown.
But Teope had good news, too.
Chiefs RB Darwin Thompson, who opened camp on the reserve/COVID list, is back to work.
CB Charvarius Ward (eye) also out here after not practicing Tuesday.
In addition to Tyreek Hill (knee) not working, CB Deandre Baker walked down the hill without pads.

As he noted, Thompson had missed every one of the team’s full training camp practices on the Reserve/COVID list. On Tuesday, the Chiefs said Ward had undergone eye surgery during the offseason. After he had been poked in the eye, they held him out of that day’s practice as a precaution.
